Cheesy Hashbrown Casserole

Cheesy Hashbrown Casserole combines thawed shredded hashbrowns with cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, melted butter, onion, and minced garlic, all baked together with ample grated cheddar cheese. The result is a warm, creamy, and cheesy bake with tender hashbrowns and a browned cheese crust on top. It’s an ideal comforting side dish especially suited to brunches or potlucks, requiring just one baking dish and a straightforward mix-then-bake method.

Description

Cheesy Hashbrown Casserole brings together shredded hashbrowns mixed with a creamy blend of sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, melted butter, and seasonings like garlic and onion. The addition of grated cheddar cheese throughout and on top creates a rich, melty texture and adds sharp, savory flavor that complements the mild potato base. Baking uncovered at 350°F for an hour allows the casserole to bubble and develops a golden cheese top.

The casserole’s texture is creamy yet slightly firm due to the hashbrowns, making it a filling accompaniment to breakfast or dinner mains. It pairs well with eggs, meats, or vegetables for a comforting meal component. The layering of cheese ensures cheesy pockets throughout and a nicely browned crust on baking.

This dish requires minimal prep and can be assembled from mostly pantry staples and frozen potatoes. It’s best served hot and fresh from the oven to maintain the cheese’s melty consistency. Leftovers may be stored refrigerated and gently reheated, though the crust will soften upon standing.
