Cherry Tomato Pico de Gallo

Cherry Tomato Pico de Gallo blends fresh cherry tomatoes, white onion, jalapeño peppers, and cilantro with lime juice and spices for a vibrant salsa. The combination delivers a bright, slightly spicy, and tangy mixture perfect for adding freshness to dishes. Its finely diced texture lends well to scooping with chips or topping tacos.

Description

Cherry Tomato Pico de Gallo uses halved or chopped cherry tomatoes mixed with diced white onion and jalapeño peppers to create a fresh salsa base. Cilantro and lime juice add herbal and citrus notes, while garlic powder, salt, and black pepper season the mixture. This recipe allows adjusting the heat by including jalapeño seeds for extra spiciness. The salsa is uncooked, preserving the fresh, crisp texture and natural sweetness of the tomatoes.

The fresh and tangy flavors come through thanks to the lime juice and the combination of onion and jalapeños. This pico de gallo is well suited as a topping for grilled meats, tacos, or as a dip for chips, bringing a refreshing contrast to richer dishes.

The recipe offers flexibility with tomato varieties from cherry to Roma or heirloom, depending on availability and preference. Tasting and adjusting seasoning before serving helps balance acidity and spice according to taste.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 cups cherry tomato
  • 1 cup white onion finely diced
  • 2 jalapeno pepper
  • ¼ cup cilantro plus extra to taste, chopped, fresh
  • 1 lime juiced
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • tsp salt
  • tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Chop your tomatoes and dice your onion.
  2. Remove the stem from your jalapeños and scoop out the insides with a spoon. Seeds may be added back in at the end to add an extra kick if you'd like a spicy pico! Cut peppers into strips and finely dice.
  3. Combine your veggies in a medium bowl with cilantro, lime juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Mix well and give it a taste. Feel free to add extra lime, cilantro, onion, and/or spices to taste! Let your tastebuds be your guide for the perfect pico!

Notes

  • Feel free to substitute cherry tomatoes with Roma, plum, or heirloom tomatoes for varied flavor.
  • Adjust the jalapeño seeds to increase or decrease the spiciness according to your preference.
  • Allow the pico de gallo to rest briefly to let flavors meld before serving.
  • Nutritional estimates may vary depending on the tomato variety and ingredient brands used.
