Chicken Caesar Wrap
Description
The recipe assembles 10-inch flour tortillas with a spread of Caesar dressing, followed by a layer of shredded romaine lettuce to add crunch and freshness. Cooked shredded or sliced chicken provides protein with tender texture, while freshly grated Parmesan cheese adds a salty, nutty element characteristic of Caesar salads.
Wrapping the ingredients tightly and refrigerating them while wrapped helps the flavors meld and makes the wraps convenient to serve. Slicing them in half reveals the filling and makes eating easier.
These wraps pair well with a simple salad or potato chips for a balanced meal. The recipe highlights flexibility in choosing homemade or store-bought Caesar dressing and different greens such as green leaf or butterhead lettuce as alternatives to romaine.
Because lettuce and dressing can cause tortillas to become soggy, these wraps are best eaten the day they are made for optimal texture.
Ingredients
- 4 (10-inch) flour tortillas or whole wheat tortillas (burrito size)
- 1/2 cup caesar salad dressing (see note 1) plus more for serving
- 4 cups romaine lettuce shredded (see note 2)
- 16 ounces chicken shredded or sliced (see note 3, cooked
- 1 cup Parmesan Cheese grated, freshly grated
Instructions
- Arrange tortillas on a flat surface. Top each with 2 tablespoons of Caesar dressing. Spread 1 cup shredded lettuce in the middle of each tortilla, then top with 4 ounces cooked chicken and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese.
- Wrap tightly in plastic wrap or wax paper and refrigerate until serving time. Slice in half to serve, and serve with additional dressing if desired.
Notes
- Homemade Caesar dressing can be made by combining mayonnaise, lemon juice, spicy brown mustard, Parmesan, and Worcestershire sauce, seasoned with salt and pepper.
- Romaine lettuce is traditional, but other greens like green leaf or butterhead lettuce can be used.
- Use leftover cooked chicken or rotisserie chicken for convenience.
- For best texture, consume wraps the same day to avoid soggy tortillas.
- The recipe makes 4 wraps and can be served with a salad or chips for a complete meal.
