Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole

This Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole layers shredded rotisserie chicken and cubed ham, topped with a creamy Swiss and Parmesan cheese sauce. A crunchy panko breadcrumb and butter topping adds texture. The casserole is baked until bubbly and golden, combining familiar flavors of classic chicken cordon bleu into an easy, comforting dish with a creamy interior and crisp topping. It can be served on its own or over rice or pasta for a satisfying meal.

Description

Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole combines shredded chicken and ham covered in a smooth cheese sauce made from butter, flour, milk, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, garlic powder, Swiss and Parmesan cheese. The sauce is poured over the meat layers and topped with a mixture of panko breadcrumbs and melted butter before baking at moderate heat. As it cooks, the sauce thickens and the top crisps, creating a balance of creamy, savory flavors with a crunchy crust.

The casserole can work well as a main course for lunch or dinner. Serving it with a fresh Caesar salad or steamed vegetables like broccoli or asparagus adds a crisp contrast to the richness of the dish. It also pairs nicely with pasta or rice to extend portions.

According to notes, leftover casserole can be served over additional grains. The recipe suggests that the breadcrumb topping spices and the cheese sauce thickness are key to the dish’s texture and flavor. Adjust salt as needed after tasting the sauce. This casserole provides a warm, cheesy comfort food option based on classic ingredients.
