Chicken Dumpling Soup Recipe
Description
The Chicken Dumpling Soup Recipe brings together cooked shredded chicken, vegetables, and a creamy broth base made from chicken broth and cream of chicken soup. Adding canned corn and sliced carrots contributes sweetness and texture, while the biscuit dough pieces simmered in the soup soften into pillowy dumplings. Cooking the dumplings enclosed in the simmering broth ensures they cook through evenly, soaking up flavor. Topped with freshly chopped parsley, the soup gains a light herbal note.
The biscuit dough acting as dumplings sets this soup apart from typical chicken soups by creating more substance and a soft, moist texture in each bite. It can be served as a filling lunch or a casual dinner.
A slow cooker adaptation is possible by layering the broth, soup, and chicken first, cooking for several hours, then adding the biscuit dough and vegetables toward the end to finish cooking. This method may ease preparation.
