Chicken Flautas

Chicken Flautas offer rolled tortillas filled with a creamy, cheesy shredded chicken mixture baked until the exterior is golden brown and crisp. The combination of cream cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, and salsa creates a rich, flavorful filling, while baking keeps the tortillas crisp without frying. These flautas present a satisfying handheld dish with a tender yet crisp texture.

Description

The recipe mixes shredded chicken with cream cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, salsa, and seasonings, producing a moist, creamy filling with a mild heat and tang from the salsa. Filling soft flour tortillas with this mixture and rolling them tightly ensures a compact shape that crisps up evenly when baked. Placing them seam side down helps maintain roll integrity during cooking. Baking at 400°F crisps the outside to a golden color, providing a pleasant crunch that contrasts with the tender filling.

These flautas work well as a snack or main dish, served alongside dips or toppings as preferred. The use of the oven offers a less greasy alternative to frying, maintaining convenience and a cleaner texture. The balance of cheeses and salsa in the filling yields a flavor profile that is creamy, mildly spicy, and comforting.
