Chicken Parmesan

Chicken Parmesan features breaded and fried chicken breasts topped with a homemade tomato sauce seasoned with garlic, oregano, and basil, then baked to meld flavors. The coating combines Parmesan cheese with breadcrumbs for a crispy exterior, while the tomato sauce brings a softly simmered, tangy element. This dish suits main course meals with its combination of crispy chicken and savory sauce, offering a satisfying balance of textures and familiar Italian-inspired flavors.

Description

Chicken Parmesan starts with skinless chicken breasts that are seasoned and coated in flour, beaten eggs, and a seasoned breadcrumb mixture that includes Parmesan cheese and herbs. The chicken is shallow fried until golden, producing a crispy crust. A tomato sauce is made separately by sautéing garlic in olive oil, then simmering chopped tomatoes with oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper until slightly thickened.

The chicken breasts are placed over a layer of the tomato sauce in a baking dish, then topped with more sauce or cheese before baking in a preheated oven. The result is a tender, juicy chicken with a flavorful crisp coating softened by the rich tomato sauce. The seasoning and Parmesan in the crust add depth that complements the fresh tomato sauce.

This method creates a classic comfort food that can be served with pasta, vegetables, or a side salad. It’s a structured dish combining crunchy and moist textures with balanced herbs and cheese-focused savory notes.
