Chili con Carne is a hearty meal ready to warm you up on a cold day! I love serving this chile for game day or at dinnertime with cornbread!

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 yellow onion diced (medium-sized)
- ½ green bell pepper diced
- 2 cloves garlic crushed
- 1 tablespoon chili powder (plus more to taste)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 cups diced tomatoes
- ½ cup salsa
- 1 can red kidney beans do not drain (16-ounces)
Instructions
- In a large pot, cook beef, onion, green pepper, and garlic over medium-high heat for about 8 minutes. Stir occasionally until beef is brown; drain and return to heat.
- Stir in remaining ingredients except for the beans. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in beans. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; simmer uncovered about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until desired thickness is reached.
