Chilis Original Chili Recipe

This chili recipe uses ground chuck beef simmered in a tomato and water mixture with a robust chili spice blend including chili powder, cumin, paprika, and cayenne. Onion sautéed separately is added for sweetness and texture. Masa harina is mixed with water and added at the end to thicken the sauce, creating a hearty, flavorful chili with balanced seasoning and richness.

Description

Chilis Original Chili Recipe starts by browning ground chuck beef in a stockpot, then combining it with a chili spice blend made from chili powder, salt, cumin, paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. The spices are mixed into water and tomato sauce before adding to the meat. Separately sautéed chopped yellow onions are stirred into the chili to contribute sweetness and tender texture. The chili simmers for an hour, allowing flavors to meld and intensify.

To finish, masa harina mixed with water is stirred in and cooked further to thicken the chili, giving it body and a subtle corn flavor. The simmering and seasoning produce a rich, warming chili with moderate heat controlled by cayenne and balanced spices. The recipe focuses on layering flavors from dry spices, sautéed onions, and thickening agents for a satisfying final dish.

This chili works well for hearty meals and pairs naturally with cornbread or rice, though serving suggestions are not provided in the details.
