Chimichurri Burger
Description
The burger combines lean ground beef with bread crumbs and egg to bind the mixture, plus two tablespoons of chimichurri sauce, a blend of parsley, cilantro, shallot (or red onion), oregano, garlic, crushed red pepper, olive oil, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, lemon zest, and salt. This incorporation adds herbaceous brightness and a bit of acidity directly into the patty, promoting a moist, flavorful result.
Formed into four patties, these are grilled to desired doneness, with cheese optionally added near the end of cooking to melt over the top. The cooked patties are served on buns, each topped with the remaining chimichurri sauce and optional additions like sliced onions, tomatoes, avocado, or cheese, providing contrast in flavor and texture.
The recipe notes that while incorporating chimichurri into the meat enhances flavor and moisture, the sauce can be used solely as a condiment for a quicker preparation without sacrificing the core flavor profile. This offers flexibility depending on preparation time.
