Chipotle Aioli
Description
The Chipotle Aioli recipe starts by mashing fresh garlic with kosher salt to create a smooth paste, which is then mixed into mayonnaise along with finely minced chipotle pepper, onion powder, fresh lime juice, and cumin. This mixture yields a thick sauce rich with smoky and tangy flavors. The cumin adds warmth while the lime juice balances the heat of the chipotle. Once combined and seasoned with salt and pepper, the aioli serves as a versatile accompaniment for sandwiches, grilled vegetables, or seafood.
Ingredients
- 1 clove garlic small
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon chipotle pepper finely minced
- 1 teaspoon lime juice fresh
- ⅛ teaspoon cumin
Instructions
- Place garlic clove on a cutting board and add salt. Mash with a fork until it forms a paste.
- Add mashed garlic to a bowl with remaining ingredients.
- Mix well and season with salt & pepper to taste.
Notes
- This aioli can be stored in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days, maintaining freshness and flavor.
- You can replace minced chipotle pepper with 1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder, adjusting the quantity to your preferred heat level.
- For a spicier version, increase the amount of chipotle pepper according to taste preferences.
