Chipotle Caramel Chex Mix

Chipotle Caramel Chex Mix combines crispy rice and corn Chex cereals, mini pretzels, and nuts coated in a homemade caramel glaze spiced with chipotle pepper and smoked paprika. Baked slowly at a low temperature, the mix develops a sweet and smoky flavor with a crunchy texture, making it a flavorful snack to enjoy at gatherings or casual snacking.

Description

The Chipotle Caramel Chex Mix is made by coating a blend of rice and corn Chex cereals, mini pretzels, peanuts, and cashews with a warm caramel mixture infused with chipotle pepper seasoning and smoked paprika. The caramel is prepared by melting butter with corn syrup, brown sugar, and spices, creating a sticky, flavorful glaze that adheres well to the snack pieces.

The coated mixture is spread on baking sheets and baked at a low temperature of 275°F, with frequent stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even caramel coating and to prevent clumping. After baking, tossing the mix every 10 minutes as it cools helps keep pieces separated. The resulting snack offers a balance of smoky warmth from the chipotle and paprika with sweet caramel and salty crunch from the cereals and nuts.

This mix is suitable for parties, movie nights, or anytime one wants a sweet-spicy crunchy snack. It can be stored in an airtight container or ziplock bag to maintain its texture.

The recipe yields a large batch, so it's practical for sharing or storing.
