Chipotle Guacamole

Chipotle Guacamole is a creamy avocado dip with a hint of smoky heat from finely diced jalapeño and fresh lime juice. Red onion and cilantro add brightness and texture, while the kosher salt enhances the flavors. The jalapeño’s seeds and ribs are removed for mild heat, creating a balanced guacamole that is fresh, slightly spicy, and smooth.

Description

This guacamole starts with ripe avocados mashed to the desired texture with lime juice and kosher salt to maintain brightness and seasoning. Finely diced red onion, cilantro leaves, and jalapeño without seeds or ribs are gently stirred in to add crunch, herbal notes, and a controlled smoky heat. Tasting and adjusting salt or lime juice ensures balanced flavors.

The guacamole is best served immediately to preserve its fresh color and flavor, often garnished with extra cilantro sprigs and lime wedges. The finely chopped ingredients blend well with the creamy avocado to create a dip that is lively but approachable in heat and texture.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 ripe avocado cut in half, pits removed
  • 2 teaspoons lime juice freshly squeezed is best
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro chopped, leaves
  • 1/4 cup red onion finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon jalapeño finely diced, seeds and ribs removed

Instructions

  1. Scoop the avocado flesh into a medium bowl. Add the lime juice and salt.
  2. Mash with a fork until you reach your desired consistency.
  3. Add the cilantro, red onion and jalapeno to the bowl. Stir to combine.
  4. Taste and add more salt or lime juice if desired.
  5. Serve immediately, garnished with cilantro sprigs and lime wedges if desired.

Notes

  • Dice red onion and jalapeño finely for a smooth dip, or coarser to add texture depending on preference.
  • Mash avocados with a fork or potato masher to reach your preferred consistency.
  • Removing jalapeño seeds and ribs keeps the guacamole mild; include them for added heat.
