Chipotle Ranch Dressing
Description
The dressing combines common creamy bases like sour cream or Greek yogurt and mayonnaise with the distinct smoky heat of chipotle chili peppers preserved in adobo sauce. Lime juice adds brightness and acidity, while fresh cilantro contributes herbal freshness. Garlic and onion powders enhance the savory depth, and smoked paprika adds another layer of smoky flavor. Worcestershire sauce introduces umami complexity, balancing the flavors with a subtle tang and saltiness. The seasoning is adjusted with salt and black pepper to taste.
All ingredients are processed together in a food processor until smooth and fully incorporated. Serving immediately captures the fresh flavors, but chilling the dressing for an hour or more allows the flavors to meld and intensify. The dressing keeps for several days refrigerated in an airtight container, maintaining its creamy texture and spice character.
This dressing works well not only on green salads but also as a dipping sauce or condiment for grilled meats and vegetables, thanks to its balanced combination of creamy, smoky, and tangy elements.
A note about chipotle chili size advises using smaller peppers for milder heat, as sizes vary by brand. The recipe yields about one cup of dressing.
