Chipotle Sauce Recipe

This Chipotle Sauce blends smoky chipotles in adobo with creamy Mexican crema, mayonnaise, cilantro, and spices to create a smooth, tangy condiment. The cayenne, garlic powder, and cumin add warmth and depth, making it a versatile sauce for tacos, grilled meats, or dipping. Its velvety texture and smoky heat complement a variety of dishes, with easy preparation in a food processor.

Description

The Chipotle Sauce Recipe combines canned chipotles in adobo sauce with Mexican crema or sour cream and mayonnaise to produce a creamy, smoky, and slightly spicy sauce. Chopped cilantro adds fresh herbal notes, while cayenne powder, garlic powder, and cumin contribute layers of warmth and aromatics. Blending the ingredients until smooth creates a sauce with a uniform texture that works well as a topping or dip.

Because the sauce incorporates adobo chipotles, it carries moderate heat and smoky flavor that enhances tacos, grilled chicken, vegetables, or sandwiches. The mayonnaise and crema provide richness and mellow the spices for balanced taste.

The prepared sauce can be stored airtight in the refrigerator and makes approximately 2 cups. It can be adjusted for heat or thickness by varying the chipotle quantity or type of cream used. At about 23 calories per tablespoon, it offers flavorful accompaniment without being heavy.
