Chipped Beef Dip Recipe

Chipped Beef Dip combines softened cream cheese and sour cream blended with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, chopped dried beef, green onions, pickled jalapeños, and fresh dill. The chilled dip offers a creamy, slightly tangy base punctuated by salty beef, herbaceous notes, and mild heat from jalapeños.

Description

This dip mixes softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth, incorporating Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder for seasoning depth. The chopped dried beef (chipped beef) contributes a distinctive savory, salty flavor and meaty texture. Fresh green onions and dill add brightness, while pickled jalapeños provide a touch of acidity and a gentle kick depending on the heat level chosen.

Chilling the dip allows the flavors to meld before serving alongside toasted baguette slices, butter crackers, or fresh-cut vegetables for contrast between creamy dip and crunchy accompaniments. The dip can also be baked with shredded cheese on top for a warm, melty appetizer variation.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 16 ounces cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 4.5 ounce dried beef AKA chipped beef or Buddig Beef, package
  • ½ cup green onion chopped
  • ¼ cup pickled jalapeños drained and diced (mild or hot
  • 1 tablespoon dill fresh, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Place the softened cream cheese and sour cream in a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Add the Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder and mix until very smooth. (Make sure there are no clumps of cream cheese left.)
  3. Chop the dried beef into scant pieces. Then chop the green onions, jalapenos, and dill. Mix the dried beef, green onions, jalapenos, and dill into the cream cheese mixture.
  4. Chill until ready to serve. Serve with toasted baguette slices, butter crackers, or fresh cut vegetables.

Notes

  • Soften cream cheese thoroughly or warm briefly in the microwave for easier mixing and smoother texture.
  • This dip can be warmed in a 350°F oven for 15 minutes; add shredded cheese on top before baking for a hot, cheesy variation.
