Chocolate Cake Mix Cookies Recipe (aka Cheater Cookies!)

These Chocolate Cake Mix Cookies use a devil’s food cake mix combined simply with vegetable oil, eggs, and chocolate chips. The dough forms soft, slightly chewy cookies with rich chocolate flavor enhanced by chocolate chips, baked to a tender set edge.

Description

This easy recipe starts by mixing a packaged devil’s food cake mix with vegetable oil and eggs until smooth, creating a moist cookie dough base. Chocolate chips fold into the batter, providing pockets of melted richness after baking.

Cookies are shaped into small balls and placed onto lined baking sheets. Optionally, pressing them lightly with a fork can flatten them for a more uniform shape. They bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 12-14 minutes, until edges set but centers remain soft.

Once removed from the oven, the cookies are allowed to cool slightly before being transferred to a rack to finish cooling. Their texture is tender and moist with chocolate notes from both cake mix and chips. They can be enjoyed warm or stored for later snacking.
