Chocolate Chip Granola Bars
Description
This recipe uses old fashioned oats and whole wheat flour as a base, complemented by shredded coconut and brown sugar for depth. Wet ingredients include vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and honey, which blend to create a sticky but pliable mixture. Pressing firmly into a lined pan before baking at 325°F helps the bars hold together after cooling.
The finished granola bars achieve a balance of chewy and slightly crispy textures with bursts of chocolate. Cutting into uniform bars once cooled makes portioning easy. The combination of oats and coconut contributes a heartier mouthfeel compared to traditional cookies.
Bars store well individually wrapped, staying fresh for several weeks. They can also be frozen for up to 4 months, requiring about 20 minutes to thaw before eating. Substitutions for flour include all-purpose or gluten-free options, and chocolate chips can be replaced with dried fruit to customize flavors or dietary preferences.
Ingredients

- 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup coconut shredded, unsweetened
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
