Chocolate Dipped Peanut Butter Pretzels
Description
Chocolate Dipped Peanut Butter Pretzels are made by mixing creamy peanut butter, softened butter, powdered sugar, and brown sugar into a smooth dough that can be rolled into balls. These balls are sandwiched between pretzels and chilled to set. The treats are then dipped halfway into melted chocolate almond bark and allowed to harden on wax paper. This technique ensures the filling remains soft and sweet while the pretzels provide a salty crunch. The chocolate adds a smooth, rich layer that seals the filling and complements the texture contrasts.
The pretzel sandwiches can be stored in an airtight container once the chocolate is set. Chilling before dipping helps maintain the shape during the chocolate coating process. The mixture’s consistency can be adjusted by adding more powdered sugar until it no longer sticks to your hands, facilitating shaping.
These treats work well as portable snacks that combine sweetness and saltiness, suitable for gifting or casual eating. The recipe’s freezing option allows for make-ahead preparation, making it convenient for holidays or parties.
When freezing, some condensation might appear on the chocolate as white spots, but this does not affect taste or safety. Refrigeration will keep them fresh for up to two weeks.
Ingredients
- 1 c. peanut butter creamy
- 2 Tbsp butter softened
- 1/2 c. powdered sugar
- 3/4 c. brown sugar
- pretzels
- 4 chocolate almond bark in squares
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with wax paper and set aside.
- Mix peanut butter and butter together. Scrape down bowl, add sugars and beat until combined. You should be able to roll the mixture into balls without sticking to your hands. Add more powdered sugar until you reach this consistency.
- Roll the mixture into small balls. Sandwich the balls between two pretzels and place in the freezer for 30 minutes.
- Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Stir occasionally until smooth.
- Dip each pretzel bite halfway into the melted chocolate and place on the prepared baking sheet. Let sit until the chocolate is set. Store in an airtight container
Notes
- Refrigerate the pretzel sandwiches in an airtight container for up to two weeks to maintain freshness.
- Freeze them to prepare in advance; chocolate may develop white spots due to condensation but remains safe to eat.
- Adjust powdered sugar to reach a firm, non-sticky dough suitable for rolling into balls.
