Chocolate Granola Recipe with Almonds

This chocolate granola blends quick-cooking oats, toasted sliced almonds, and unsweetened coconut flakes coated in a warm mixture of melted butter, maple syrup, and unsweetened cocoa powder. Baked at a low temperature, it dries to a lightly crisp texture with a gentle cocoa flavor and natural sweetness, making a crunchy and nutty breakfast or snack option.

Description

The Chocolate Granola Recipe with Almonds combines quick oats, sliced toasted almonds, and unsweetened coconut flakes for texture diversity. Butter is melted and mixed with pure maple syrup and a generous portion of unsweetened cocoa powder to infuse chocolate flavor without added sugar. Vanilla extract adds aromatic depth.

After coating the oat mixture in the chocolate syrup, it is baked gently at 250°F for an hour, allowing the granola to dry and crisp without burning or over-baking. Cooling afterward ensures a crunchy final product suitable for cereal bases, toppings, or handheld snacking.

Store the granola in airtight containers to maintain freshness for up to two weeks.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 8 cups oats quick cooking
  • 1 cup almonds sliced, toasted
  • 2 cups unsweetened coconut
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder heaping, unsweetened
  • 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine oats (quick-cooking please!), almonds, and unsweetened coconut flakes. I used Bob’s Red Mill brand. Stir and set aside.
  2. In a small liquid measuring cup, melt butter in microwave. Stir in maple syrup and cocoa powder. Use really good quality stuff. I used Scharffen Berger. Microwave mixture another 30 seconds or so or until cocoa mixes in so there aren’t any lumps. Stir in vanilla.
  3. Pour butter/maple mixture over the bowl of oats. Stir to coat and divide between two cookie sheets.
  4. Bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour. Cool this down and store in airtight containers for up to 2 weeks.
