Chocolate Molten Lava Cakes (5 Ingredients, 1 Bowl!)

Chocolate Molten Lava Cakes offer rich, bittersweet chocolate encased in a tender cake with a molten, slightly jiggly center. Using just five key ingredients combined in one bowl, these individual cakes are baked until the edges set while the middle stays gooey, creating an indulgent dessert experience that highlights intense chocolate flavor and a contrast between soft cake and flowing filling.

Description

This recipe for Chocolate Molten Lava Cakes requires butter, bittersweet chocolate, powdered sugar, whole eggs and yolks, and flour. The process begins by melting butter and chocolate together, then mixing in sugar and eggs, followed by sifted flour to form a smooth batter. Divided among buttered ramekins or a muffin tin, the batter is baked at a high temperature until just set on the edges but still soft and slightly jiggly in the center.

The result is a warm chocolate cake with a tender crumb forming a shell around a molten core of melted chocolate. The bittersweet chocolate provides depth and slight bitterness balanced by powdered sugar and eggs, creating a rich but not overly sweet dessert.

Upon baking, they are inverted carefully onto plates to reveal their lava-like centers. Optional garnishes such as powdered sugar, chopped chocolate, or berries can be added for subtle texture and freshness.
