Chow Mein, Hamburger Rice Hotdish (Casserole)
Description
The Chow Mein, Hamburger Rice Hotdish recipe combines browned ground beef with sautéed onion, celery, and garlic, mixed into cooked rice and condensed cream of mushroom soup. Water and soy sauce are added to integrate the flavors and create moisture. Half of the cashews are stirred in for richness.
After assembling in a baking dish, the mixture is topped with chow mein noodles and remaining cashews before baking at 350°F for about 20 minutes. This baking step melds the flavors and adds a contrasting crunchy topping from the noodles and nuts.
The casserole offers a blend of savory beef and vegetables, creamy mushroom flavor, and textural contrast. It works well as a one-dish meal that is both satisfying and practical for serving a family or group. The recipe does not include additional notes but yields a comforting home-cooked casserole.
