Ingredients

Servings
  • 8 mozzarella cheese sticks cut into quarters
  • 8 colby jack cheese sticks cut into quarters
  • 2 (16.3-ounce) cans Pillsbury Grand buttermilk biscuits
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon Parmesan Cheese grated
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt with parsley flakes
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 (12-ounce) can pizza sauce or marinara sauce, canned

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a large jelly roll pan or cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Open each can of dough biscuits and separate each biscuit into 2 layers for a total of 32 biscuits.
  3. Flatten each biscuit into a 4-inch circle. Add 1 piece of each type of cheese stick (2 pieces total) to each round, fold dough over the cheese, and pinch to seal. Place each dough ball onto the prepared pan in a tree pattern, starting with the trunk.
  4. Melt butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Add Parmesan cheese, garlic salt, and Italian seasoning and brush onto the tops of the biscuits. Bake for 22-26 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Serve warm with warmed pizza or marinara sauce.

Notes

  • Make smaller trees. For each small tree arrange with 1 dough ball for the trunk then a row of 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 ball on top.
  • Prep ahead of time. Assemble the tree, cover it with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for up to 2 hours before baking and serving warm.
  • Bake ahead. Allow to cool and cover. Refrigerate for 1-2 days before reheating in a preheated 300°F oven for 5 to 10 minutes or until warm and the cheese is melted.
  • Store leftover cheese rolls in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave until warmed through.
