Cinnamon Applesauce Bread
Description
Cinnamon Applesauce Bread uses a blend of oat and almond flours along with unsweetened applesauce to create a soft, moist loaf with a gentle apple flavor. The inclusion of warm spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice gives the bread a cozy aroma and taste. Chopped apples folded into the batter add subtle texture and freshness. The loaf is baked until a toothpick comes out clean, with a topping of turbinado sugar and cinnamon for a delicate, sweet crust. This bread can be sliced and enjoyed plain or with butter.
The texture is tender but holds together well due to the combination of baking soda, baking powder, and eggs, which help the bread rise and give it structure. The melted coconut oil and Greek yogurt enrich the crumb, adding moisture and softness. The topping adds a pleasant crunch contrasting the soft interior.
This bread works well sliced for breakfast alongside coffee or tea, or as a snack throughout the day. It pairs nicely with nut butters or cream cheese spreads.
Optional add-ins such as chopped nuts or raisins can be mixed in for additional flavor and texture. Adjusting the flour types and amounts allows for dietary preferences like gluten sensitivity or vegan adaptations by replacing the egg and almond flour. If using brown sugar in the topping, it can substitute turbinado sugar if unavailable.
