Cinnamon Raisin Sausage Breakfast Bake

Combining ground pork sausage with cinnamon-raisin bread, this breakfast bake offers a blend of savory and sweet flavors. The custard made from eggs, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla soaks into bread cubes, while pecans add texture. Baked until golden brown, it creates a comforting morning dish that can be prepared ahead and baked fresh for a hearty start to the day.

Description

The Cinnamon Raisin Sausage Breakfast Bake brings together sausage and sweet cinnamon-raisin bread in a custard soaked casserole. Browned and drained sausage is mixed with a custard base of eggs, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla, along with chopped pecans and bread cubes. This mixture is poured into a baking dish, topped with remaining pecans, and baked until set and golden brown on top. The result is a balance of savory and sweet flavors with tender bread and a custardy interior complemented by nutty crunch.

The bake is substantial enough to serve for breakfast or brunch, providing protein from the sausage, spice from warm cinnamon and nutmeg, and sweetness from the bread and brown sugar. Pecan nuts add a toasted, crunchy element that contrasts nicely with the soft baked custard and bread. Baking consolidates the flavors and creates a browned crust that adds texture.

This dish is practical to make ahead by assembling the night before and baking fresh in the morning. It serves well for family breakfasts or brunch gatherings where a one-dish solution is appreciated. The cinnamon-raisin bread ensures a flavorful twist on a standard breakfast casserole.
