Cinnamon Sugar Donut Muffins

Cinnamon Sugar Donut Muffins combine a spiced muffin batter with a cinnamon sugar coating applied after baking and brushing with melted butter. The muffins bake to a moist crumb with a subtle cinnamon flavor, then gain a sweet, crunchy cinnamon sugar exterior reminiscent of classic cinnamon sugar donuts.

Description

This recipe uses a batter made from all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon mixed with milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla. Once combined, the batter is portioned into a prepared muffin pan and baked at 350°F until a toothpick comes out clean. Cooling briefly in the pan and then on a rack prepares the muffins for coating.

The coating is a mixture of granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Each muffin is dipped in melted butter and rolled in the cinnamon sugar, creating a textured outer layer that mimics the traditional donut coating. This layer adds a sweet crunch contrasting the soft muffin crumb inside.

These baked muffins offer an easier alternative to fried donuts with similar cinnamon sugar flavor. They can be stored in an airtight container or zip-top bag for up to three days, either chilled or at room temperature, maintaining freshness for multiple servings or quick snacks.
