Cinnamon Sugar Sweet and Salty Chex Mix

This Chex Mix combines corn, wheat Chex, Cheerios, pretzels, saltine crackers, and cashews tossed with a honey butter glaze, baked, then coated with a cinnamon sugar blend for a sweet and salty snack. The mix is baked multiple times for a crunchy texture and to evenly coat the pieces with seasoning. It balances savory cereal and nuts with the sticky sweet cinnamon sugar.

Description

The Cinnamon Sugar Sweet and Salty Chex Mix is a snack blend featuring various crunchy base ingredients like corn Chex, wheat Chex, Cheerios, mini saltine crackers, cashews, and pretzel sticks. These are first coated in a melted butter mixture flavored with honey, vanilla, and salt to enhance richness and add sweetness. After spreading evenly on a baking sheet, the mix bakes in multiple stages to ensure even cooking and crispness. A final sprinkle of cinnamon and granulated sugar is added before more baking, which caramelizes the sugar and gives the mix its signature sweet cinnamon coating. The contrast of salty crackers and nuts paired with the honeyed, buttery, cinnamon-sugar finish gives a satisfying blend of flavor and crunch suitable for snacking or parties.

The baking method and layering of flavors create a textured treat that isn't soggy but holds the coating well. The inclusion of vanilla extract and a moderate amount of salt helps balance the honey’s sweetness and cinnamon’s warmth.

The snack should be cooled completely after baking to allow the sugar coating to harden, and stored in an airtight container to maintain freshness. This mix can be customized by substituting other whole nuts or adjusting the amount of sugar to preference.
