Classic Bread Stuffing Recipe

Classic Bread Stuffing Recipe uses fresh bread crumbs mixed with sautéed onions, toasted pine nuts, sage, scallions, and parsley for savory flavor. Butter enriches the mixture, which is seasoned with freshly ground salt and black pepper. The stuffing is baked until crisp on top and heated through, offering a moist, herbaceous side dish traditionally served with poultry or holiday meals.

Description

This Classic Bread Stuffing Recipe combines sautéed onions cooked in butter until softened with pine nuts toasted to release their flavor. Fresh bread crumbs absorb these ingredients along with sage, scallions, and fresh parsley, providing an aromatic blend of herbs and texture. The mixture is seasoned with salt and freshly ground black pepper to balance the flavors.

After mixing, the stuffing can be refrigerated before baking, allowing flavors to meld. Baked in a casserole dish at 375 degrees F, it cooks until the top is crisp and the interior is heated throughout, resulting in a combination of moist, flavorful bread and a golden, satisfying crust.

It is suited as a traditional side dish for roasted poultry or as part of holiday meals. The presence of fresh herbs and nuts adds varied texture and fragrance.

  • 6 to 8 cups fresh bread crumbs

Turn off the heat. (At this point, you can refrigerate the stuffing in a covered container, for up to a day before proceeding.)
  4. 4. Place the stuffing in a casserole dish (3 quart or 9x13-inch) and bake for about 45 minutes, or until crisp and heated through.
