Description
The burgers are prepared by combining ground beef with seasoned salt, A1 sauce, black pepper, and water, which enhances juiciness and flavor distribution. The mixture is formed into patties slightly larger than the buns to account for shrinkage during cooking.
Grilling over medium-high heat cooks the burgers evenly, and toasting the buttered buns directly on the grill for the final minutes adds texture and flavor. The result is a classic grilled burger with a tender interior and a lightly charred exterior.
An optional variation features fresh rosemary added to the beef mixture for an aromatic note, offering a simple way to customize the flavor profile. These burgers are versatile for serving with typical burger toppings and sides.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef preferably not extra lean
- 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
- 2 tablespoons A1 sauce
- 1 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
- ¼ cup water room temperature
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, mix all the ingredients together until well combined. Form the beef into patties about 1/2-inch thick and about 1/4-inch larger in diameter than the buns you’ll be using. Refrigerate the patties until ready to grill.
- Cook the burgers on a preheated grill over medium-high heat until the burgers are cooked to your liking (I like mine with the barest hint of pink in the center and usually grill for about 6 minutes per side).
- The last two minutes of grilling, butter the inside of the bun and slap it on the grill to toast while the burgers finish cooking.
Notes
- For a herbed variation, adding fresh rosemary leaves to the beef mix enhances the burger’s aroma and flavor.
