Classic Lemonade
Description
Classic Lemonade starts with freshly squeezed lemon juice combined with a homemade lemon syrup consisting of sugar and lemon zest, gently heated to dissolve and extract flavor. Once cooled and strained, the syrup is mixed with chilled water to create a crisp, refreshing beverage. The balance of sweetness and acidity depends on dilution to taste, allowing adjustment for preferred tartness.
The lemonade is served cold, often with additional lemon slices, enhancing its fresh appearance and aroma. It is ideal for warm weather or as a palate-cleansing drink alongside meals.
Ingredients
- 2 cups lemon juice from about 8 - 10 lemons, freshly squeezed
- 1 ½ cups white sugar
- 2 ½ tablespoons lemon 2-3 lemons, zest
- 8 cups water to dilute, cold
Instructions
Lemon syrup
- Add 1 cup of the lemon juice into a saucepan, along with 1 ½ cup of sugar and the zest. Heat the two ingredients together on medium-high heat, while stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved. Continue to heat the lemon syrup until the lemon syrup starts to simmer.
- Set the saucepan aside and allow the syrup to cool down to room temperature.

- Strain the lemon syrup to remove the zest.
- Allow the syrup to chill in the fridge until needed.

- Taste and add more fresh lemon juice or water if needed. Serve immediately or store in the fridge until needed.
