Classic Sweet Muffins
Description
This recipe creates soft muffins with a slight crumb, thanks to the balance of baking powder and moisture from milk and oil. The egg binds the ingredients providing structure, while sugar adds sweetness balanced by a pinch of salt. Optional blueberries can be tossed in flour before folding to prevent sinking, or jelly can be added in the center of the muffins by layering the batter. Baking at 400°F for about 20–25 minutes yields a golden top and a tender crumb inside.
These muffins can be served as a breakfast item, snack, or dessert. Their neutral sweet profile allows for customization with fruits or fillings. The texture is moist yet cakey, making them easy to eat individually or with spreads.
The method is straightforward, mixing wet ingredients and folding in the dry components until just combined to avoid over-mixing which can cause toughness. Variations allow blueberry muffins or jelly-filled versions by slight changes in the batter preparation and filling method.
