Coca-Cola and Ham Recipe + Video

This ham recipe features spiral-cut ham coated in a sweet and tangy glaze made from brown sugar, Dijon mustard, cayenne pepper, and Coca-Cola. Slow baking with periodic glazing creates a caramelized surface paired with moist, flavorful meat.

Description

The preparation begins by placing a spiral-cut ham in a foil-lined roasting pan and covering it loosely with foil. A glaze is made by combining brown sugar, Dijon mustard, cornstarch, and cayenne pepper, which is rubbed over the ham and worked into the slices. Cola is poured over the ham to infuse sweetness and moisture during baking. The ham is baked covered for the first hour to retain moisture, then uncovered and basted with the pan juices and glaze multiple times during subsequent baking stages to develop a sticky, caramelized crust.

This method results in a ham that is sweet, slightly spicy from cayenne, and subtly flavored from cola-based glaze. It is suitable for holiday or special occasion meals, where it can be served warm as a main protein.

Leftover ham can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to four days and repurposed in sandwiches or soups after reheating.
