Instructions

Prepare The Marinated Grilled Chicken

  1. Slice the chicken breasts in half lengthwise, and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl stir together the pickle juice, milk, powdered sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, salt, and paprika.
  3. Add the chicken breasts to the marinade and make sure the chicken is well coated on all sides. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours.

Make The Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce

  1. While the chicken is marinating, make the barbecue sauce. In a separate medium-sized bowl, add the mayonnaise, bbq sauce, honey, dijon, lemon juice, and paprika. Stir until well combined. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Preheat the grill over medium heat. Cook the chicken, flipping occasionally until an internal temperature reaches 165°F in the thickest part of the breast, up to 15 minutes total.
  3. Remove the chicken from the heat and top each piece of chicken with a slice of cheese to melt slightly.

Assemble The Chicken Sandwiches

  1. To assemble, remove the tops off the buns. On top of the bottom bun add some lettuce and a slice of tomato. Add a piece of chicken on top of the lettuce and tomato, followed by a slice of bacon broken in half so it fits.
  2. Spread the honey roasted bbq sauce on the bottom side of the top bun. Add to the sandwiches and enjoy.

Notes

  • Test Doneness. Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the chicken is completely cooked.
  • No Cheese Please. Leave off the cheese and bacon and you would have the classic Chick Fil A Grilled Chicken Sandwich.
  • Get Saucy. Don't skip the BBQ Sauce. Chick Fil A always serve the honey roasted bbq sauce with the grilled chicken sandwiches and to me is the best part of the whole thing!
  • Cheese Swap. They offer pepper jack cheese or Colby Jack cheese to top the sandwich. You can use whatever cheese you want but it would no longer be a copycat recipe.
  • Storage. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days unassembled.
  • Reheating. Warm the chicken in the microwave or oven until just heated through or it may become dry.
  • Freezing. Freeze leftover chicken for up to 3 months.
