Copycat Little Caesars Crazy Bread
Description
Copycat Little Caesars Crazy Bread starts with a yeasted dough that combines warm water, sugar, oil, salt, and flour, kneaded until slightly sticky and allowed to rise until doubled. After pressing the dough into a large circle, it is sliced into one-inch-wide breadsticks baked close together on a parchment-lined tray. Baking at 400°F encourages a tender interior with a lightly crisp surface. The breadsticks are then brushed with a melted butter mixture infused with garlic, garlic powder, parsley, and Parmesan cheese, which melts into the surface adding rich flavor and a subtle herbaceous note.
The texture combines a soft crumb with a satisfying buttery coating, reminiscent of the original Crazy Bread. These breadsticks can be enjoyed on their own or dipped into a chosen sauce like marinara, ranch, or garlic dip, enhancing their appeal as an appetizer or snack.
It is important to let the dough rest briefly after cutting to allow the breadsticks to relax for even baking. Using finely minced fresh garlic alongside garlic powder balances raw garlic intensity with gentle garlic aroma. Serving promptly after baking retains the breadsticks' soft moisture and the topping's flavor impact.
Ingredients
Bread
- 2 ¼ teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 ¼ cup water warm
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon neutral cooking oil generic cooking oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups flour
Garlic Cheese Topping
- 3 tablespoon butter (melted)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic (finely minced, 1 small clove)
- 1 tablespoon parsley (finely minced, optional)
- ¼ cup Parmesan Cheese grated
Accompaniments
- Dipping Sauce of choice (ex. marinara sauce, ranch, Caesar dressing, garlic sauce, etc.)
Instructions
- Add yeast, water and sugar into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook. Let the yeast dissolve until frothy.
- Once the yeast is frothy, add in the oil, salt and flour. Turn mixer on and knead the dough for 5 minutes, scraping down the sides as needed, or knead by hand until and firm ball is formed. The dough should be a little sticky. If it is overly sticky then add in a bit more flour.
- Lightly grease or spray a bowl and place dough into the bowl. Cover and leave in a warm area until the dough rises and doubles in size. Approximately 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Turn dough onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet (ex. pizza tray). Use the palms of your hands to press the dough into a large circle.
- Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into 1 inch wide breadsticks (approximately 10 - 12 breadsticks), you do not need to push the breadsticks apart, they will bake side by side. Let the sliced dough rest for 10 minutes in a warm place.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the top is light brown.
- Melt butter with minced garlic, garlic powder and minced parsley.
- Once the breadsticks are baked, brush the melted butter all over the breadsticks. Then sprinkle with the parmesan cheese and serve.
Notes
- Use a warm, not hot, liquid to activate the yeast properly.
- Let the dough rest after cutting to ensure the breadsticks hold their shape during baking.
- Choose a dipping sauce that complements the garlic and cheese flavor—marinara and ranch work well.
