Copycat Starbucks Medicine Ball Recipe
Description
The Copycat Starbucks Medicine Ball Recipe brings together peach tranquility tea and mint green tea steeped carefully in hot water, combined with lemonade and honey to create a comforting tea blend. By steeping the peach tea first and then the mint green tea briefly to avoid bitterness, the recipe maintains a smooth, fruity, and minty flavor profile. The addition of honey helps soothe the throat, and lemonade adds a slight tartness and brightness. Optional garnishes of fresh mint, peppermint oil, or lemon slices enhance the aroma and presentation.
The interplay of floral peach, crisp mint, and citrus notes results in a refreshing yet soothing hot drink, suitable for evenings or whenever a calming beverage is desired. Brewing the teas separately and controlling steeping times help avoid over-extraction and bitterness in the final cup.
Notes include alternatives for sweeteners such as natural stevia or maple syrup, tips for deepening the mint flavor with fresh sprigs or peppermint extract, and suggestions for substitute tea brands when the original is unavailable. The recipe also mentions a variation for an alcoholic nightcap by adding a shot of whiskey or brandy for relaxation.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces water boiled
- 8 ounces lemonade see notes for how to make with lemon, I like Simply Lite, light
- 1 bag peach tranquility tea Teavana (see notes for other teas)
- 1 bag tea Teavana (see notes for other teas, jade citrus mint flavor
- 1-2 tablespoons honey use local honey, raw and unfiltered is best
Optional Garnish
- 1-2 drops peppermint oil
- 1-2 prigs mint fresh
- 1 lice lemon
Instructions
- Heat lemonade in a frother or on the stovetop until hot and just simmering.
- Meanwhile, brew tea as follows. To one 16 ounce mug add 8 ounces of just simmered hot water, then add 1 peach tranquility tea bag, setting timer for 3 minutes.
- Then add your tea bag of Citrus mint tea. This is a green tea which becomes bitter if brewed too long, so watch the time on this one especially. Brew for 2 minutes, 3 minutes tops.
- Remove tea bags, squeeze to get all the good stuff out, stir in honey to taste and hot lemonade. Top with a slice of lemon and if desired a sprig of mint.
Notes
- To avoid added sugar, omit lemonade and use ½ to 1 juiced lemon with 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup to taste.
- Enhance the mint flavor by adding fresh mint sprigs during heating or a few drops of peppermint extract.
- If unavailable, substitute Teavana peach and mint teas with Tazo Zen, Tazo RefreshMint, or Celestial Seasonings Peach teas.
- For a relaxing evening variation, add a shot of whiskey or brandy to the finished drink.
