Corn Tortilla Chips

Corn Tortilla Chips are made by cutting corn tortillas into pieces, lightly coating them with oil, seasoning with kosher salt, and baking at 350 degrees until crisp and lightly browned. The chips develop a crunchy texture and mild corn flavor, perfect for snacking or dipping. Baking ensures even crisping without excess oil.

Description

This Corn Tortilla Chips recipe uses twelve corn tortillas sprayed or brushed uniformly with vegetable or preferred oil. The tortillas are cut into chip-sized shapes and arranged in a single layer on a baking sheet to promote even baking. A sprinkle of kosher salt adds savory seasoning.

Baking at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 to 15 minutes yields chips with edges beginning to brown and a firm, crispy texture. Careful monitoring of the first batch is recommended to adjust baking time according to oven variances and prevent dryness. The chips bake evenly when spread without overlapping or touching.

After baking, the chips can be cooled and stored in an airtight container for up to two weeks, maintaining their crispness. These homemade chips serve well with dips like salsa, guacamole, or queso, or as a crunchy addition to salads and snacks.
