Cornbread Dressing

Simple, filling, and super tasty, this easy cornbread dressing recipe is a must for big family meals.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cornbread (crumbled muffins or loaves work well)
  • 3 Tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup onion (diced)
  • 1/2 cup celery (sliced thin)
  • 2 egg beaten, large
  • 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 1/4 teaspoon sage ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°
  2. Grease a small 11 X 7 baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl add your crumbled cornbread.
  4. In a medium skillet melt the butter and sauté the celery and the onions about 5 -7 minutes until they are soft but not browning.
  5. Add the vegetables to the cornbread.
  6. In a medium bowl add the eggs and beat them.
  7. Add to the egg mixture the poultry seasoning, chicken stock, ground sage, salt and pepper. whisk well to combine.
  8. Pour the egg mixture over the cornbread in the bowl. Fluff and stir gently to combine.
  9. Pour the stuffing into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly in the pan.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, until the edges start to turn golden brown.
  11. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Serve this with your turkey dinner with your favorite vegetables on the side.
