Corned Beef Sandwich

The Corned Beef Sandwich layers sliced corned beef and Swiss cheese toasted under a broiler, then topped with tangy coleslaw and pickles, finished with Russian dressing on rye or pumpernickel bread. The assembled sandwich can be served as is or grilled with buttered bread for a warm, toasty variation. It combines savory cured meat, creamy cheese, and crunchy, sharp accompaniments for a classic deli-style sandwich experience.

Description

This sandwich features thinly sliced corned beef and Swiss cheese placed on rye or dark pumpernickel bread. The layered sandwich is briefly broiled until the cheese softens and just begins to melt, enhancing the rich texture. Adding coleslaw and sliced pickles introduces a crunchy, slightly tangy counterpoint.

Russian dressing spread on the opposite slice of bread adds a creamy, mildly spiced flavor, completing the sandwich. For a warm version, the sandwich can be buttered on the outside and grilled in a skillet until golden brown and crisp, melding the flavors and crispness.

The combination of salty corned beef, melting cheese, creamy dressing, and crunchy, pickled vegetables creates a well-balanced sandwich providing multiple textures and flavors within a simple assembly.
