Cowboy Brunch Casserole
Description
This casserole combines beaten eggs and milk with cooked breakfast meats, cubed French bread, cheese, and diced vegetables to create a filling dish that bakes to a golden crust and set center. The inclusion of potatoes adds texture, while the onion and bell pepper contribute aroma and slight sweetness. The recipe’s resting time in the refrigerator before baking helps the bread absorb the egg mixture, ensuring a moist interior and structured slice.
Baking uncovered at 350°F produces a lightly browned top, contrasting with the soft, custardy inside. This mix offers a balance of savory, creamy, and crispy elements, typical in brunch casseroles designed for easy serving and feeding multiple people.
Variations can include substituting the sausage and bacon with other breakfast meats or adding leafy greens like spinach or broccoli to add color and nutrition. This flexibility makes it a versatile base for modifying based on personal preference or ingredient availability.
