Crack Chicken Sliders
Description
These Crack Chicken Sliders start by heating cream cheese with ranch seasoning and chicken broth until smooth, then mixing in shredded chicken, crumbled cooked bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, black pepper, and green onions. The flavorful mixture is spread over the bottom halves of Hawaiian rolls in a baking dish, topped with more cheese and the upper halves of the rolls. A butter and garlic salt glaze is brushed over the tops, sprinkled with Parmesan cheese and sliced chives before baking.
The result is a soft yet slightly crisp slider with a creamy, cheesy, and savory filling featuring ranch and bacon flavors. Baking covered then uncovered allows the rolls to warm through and brown lightly on top.
They are best served warm, making them suitable for casual meals, parties, or as a hearty snack. The combination of tender chicken and creamy cheese filling with crunchy bacon and the softness of the rolls creates a pleasant contrast.
Using leftover or rotisserie chicken is encouraged for convenience. Letting sliders cool slightly before serving helps stabilize the filling.
Ingredients
- 2 cups chicken breast shredded, cooked
- 2 pkgs cream cheese softened (2-8 oz packages)
- 1 dry ranch dressing mix 1 oz package
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 lices Bacon cooked and crumbled
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded (divided)
- 1/4 cup green onions sliced
- 12 hawaiian rolls
- 3 Tablespoons butter melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon Parmesan Cheese grated
- 1 Tablespoon chives thinly sliced
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and spray a 9X13 baking pan with a non-stick cooking spray.
- Add the cream cheese, chicken broth and ranch seasoning mix to a large pot. Heat over medium low heat (stirring frequently) until the cream cheese is melted and smooth. Remove the pan from the stove. Then stir in the chopped bacon, chicken, 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese, pepper and the green onions.
- Cut the Hawaiian rolls in half lengthwise and place the bottom of the rolls in a baking dish. Spread the chicken mixture over the bottom of the rolls and top with the remaining shredded cheddar cheese. The top with the other half of the rolls.
- Stir together the melted butter and garlic salt. Brush this mixture over the top of the rolls and sprinkle the Parmesan Cheese and chives on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 15-20 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for 2-5 minutes to brown the top of the Hawaiian rolls.
- Remove from the oven. Let them cool slightly. Then serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Leftover cooked chicken or shredded rotisserie chicken can be used to simplify preparation.
- Allow sliders to cool a few minutes after baking to let the filling firm up slightly for easier serving.
- The garlic butter topping adds flavor and helps crisp the slider tops when baked uncovered.
- Use softened cream cheese for smoother melting and mixing.
