Crack Green Beans
Description
Crack Green Beans begin with canned or thawed frozen green beans layered in a casserole dish. Bacon and diced onions cook together until the bacon crisps and flavor melds with the onions. A sauce combining ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar is simmered to blend the sweet, tangy, and smoky notes before pouring over the green beans. Baking the casserole allows the flavors to meld and the beans to become tender without overcooking. The savory bacon and sweet sauce create a distinctive coating around each bean.
This dish pairs well with roasted or grilled meats and fits seamlessly into holiday spreads or casual dinners. The baked casserole format also allows for easy preparation in advance, making it a convenient option for entertaining.
Frozen green beans should be thawed before use, while fresh beans require boiling for 10 minutes and draining. The casserole can be assembled ahead and refrigerated before baking, and leftovers maintain quality refrigerated up to four days.
