Cranberry Jalapeno Dip
Description
Cranberry Jalapeno Dip features a fresh combination of ingredients: cranberries provide tartness and texture, while jalapeno adds gentle heat that can be adjusted by removing seeds. Green onions contribute mild onion flavor and color. Sugar sweetens the mixture, offsetting the tart cranberries and heat. Lime juice adds citrus brightness.
The initial blending pulses the cranberries and jalapeno just enough to break them down while retaining some chunks, resulting in a dip with subtle texture contrasts. After draining excess moisture, the cranberry mixture is folded into softened cream cheese and sour cream creating a lush, creamy consistency. A pinch of salt rounds out the flavors.
This dip pairs well with a range of dippers such as celery sticks, cucumber slices, various types of chips like tortilla or pita, crackers, and more. The balance of sweet, tart, spicy, and creamy makes it appealing as an appetizer or snack dip.
Storing leftovers covered in the refrigerator helps maintain freshness and flavor. Adjust jalapeno seeds before blending to control spiciness, and chop ingredients uniformly to ensure even texture and bite size.
Ingredients
- 6 ounces cranberries fresh
- 1 jalapeno pepper seeded and chopped
- 3 green onion chopped
- ½ cup sugar
- lime juice of 1
- 16 ounces cream cheese softened
- ½ cup sour cream
- salt pinch
Instructions
- Add the cranberries, jalapeno, green onion, sugar, and lime juice to a blender. Pulse or blend on low until just combined. You still want chunks of cranberry.
- Pat some of the moisture off of the cranberry mixture and then add it to a mixing bowl. Add the cream cheese, sour cream, and salt. Mix with a stand mixer or hand mixer until everything is fully incorporated.
- Serve with celery sticks, cucumber slices, tortilla chips, pita chips, RITZ crackers, Wheat Thins, sliced bell peppers, or pretzels.
Notes
- Remove jalapeno seeds and ribs to reduce spiciness if desired.
- Chop jalapenos and green onions roughly before blending for consistent chunks.
- Store dip in an airtight container in the fridge to maintain freshness after opening.
- Serve chilled for best flavor and texture contrast with crisp dippers.
