Cranberry Moonshine
Description
Cranberry Moonshine begins by bringing cranberry juice, white sugar, and fresh cranberries to a boil, dissolving the sugar and extracting flavor from the fruit. Once boiled, the mixture is covered and removed from heat, allowed to cool completely. After cooling, high-proof grain alcohol, such as Everclear at 190 proof, is stirred in to fortify the mixture.
The moonshine is then ladled into sterile jars and sealed, left to sit for a minimum of two weeks, with the option to mature for up to six months. This resting period enables flavors to blend and mellow, resulting in a tart yet smooth spirit featuring cranberry notes.
Cranberry Moonshine can be served chilled as a strong, flavored drink, or used as a base in cocktails to provide seasonal fruit character alongside potent alcohol content. Proper sterilization and storage maintain clarity and safety.
