Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 cup orange juice from 2 large oranges, freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 12 ounces cranberries fresh or frozen

Instructions

  1. Place the maple syrup, orange juice, zest and cinnamon in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring well to combine.
  2. Once bubbling, stir in the cranberries and reduce to a simmer.
  3. Simmer for 10-12 minutes, stirring often, until the sauce thickens.
  4. Allow the sauce to completely cool, as it will continue to thicken furthermore. Keep refrigerated until ready to use.

Notes

  • Storing leftovers: Let your cranberry orange sauce cool completely. Then, add it to an airtight container and store it in the fridge for 4 to 5 days.
  • Freezing: Once it has cooled completely, add it to a freezer-safe airtight container or bag. Lay it flat if it is in a freezer bag. Freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.
  • Reheating: When you are ready to warm it up, reheat it over medium heat in a small pot or saucepan. Alternatively, you can pop it in the microwave for about 30 seconds.
