Cranberry Orange White Chocolate Cookies
Description
The recipe starts by creaming softened butter and sugar to a light, fluffy texture before adding eggs, fresh orange zest, and vanilla or almond extract, which contributes to the aromatic flavor profile. Dry ingredients including flour, cream of tartar, baking powder, and salt are mixed in, then cranberries and white chocolate chips are folded into the dough. Chilling the dough for 30 minutes firms it up for better handling and baking results.
Cookies are dropped onto lined baking sheets and baked at moderate temperature until the edges just turn golden, preserving a tender interior. For added brightness, an optional orange glaze made from butter, powdered sugar, fresh orange juice, and zest can be drizzled on cooled cookies, enhancing citrus notes. The combination of tart cranberries with sweet white chocolate and fresh orange flavors makes these cookies a nuanced treat.
These cookies are suitable for sharing at gatherings or enjoying alongside tea or coffee. The texture contrast of soft dough with occasional cranberry bursts and melted white chocolate adds complexity and satisfaction to each bite.
