Cranberry Sauce
Description
Cranberry Sauce combines tart fresh cranberries, grated apple, and bright orange juice and zest for complex fruit flavors. Apple cider vinegar enhances acidity, while brown and granulated sugars balance the tartness. Warm spices like cinnamon and ground cloves add cozy aromatics, and vanilla extract rounds out the flavor. The ingredients are simmered together until the sauce thickens slightly but retains some texture from the cranberries and apple.
The resulting sauce offers a sweet-tart complement often served alongside roasted meats or holiday dinners. It can be enjoyed at room temperature or chilled, depending on preference. The inclusion of apple and orange layers additional fruit notes beyond classic cranberry sauce.
This sauce can be made ahead up to a week and stored in the refrigerator, or frozen for up to two months. Natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup can substitute sugar if preferred. The recipe yields about two cups, with a typical serving size of two tablespoons.

- Make the cranberry sauce up to one week ahead and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- For longer storage, freeze the sauce in a freezer-safe container or bag for up to 2 months; thaw overnight in the fridge before serving.
