Cranberry Turkey Puff Pastry Tartlets
Description
The Cranberry Turkey Puff Pastry Tartlets recipe starts by preparing puff pastry cut into nine squares. Each square gets a spread of cranberry sauce followed by a moderate amount of chopped turkey, which can be any leftover variety. Crumbled feta on top adds a salty, creamy dimension that complements the tart cranberries. Baking at 400°F until the pastry puffs and slightly browns ensures a crisp, flaky base.
The tartlets balance sweet, savory, and tangy flavors with a crisp texture from the pastry. The fresh thyme garnish adds a herbal brightness to finish. This combination makes the tartlets suitable for holiday leftovers or small gatherings where handheld dishes are desirable.
Using leftover turkey simplifies preparation and reduces waste. The recipe advises adjusting the amount of cranberry sauce and turkey to avoid overfilling the pastry pieces, maintaining a neat presentation and even cooking.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. turkey chopped (can use any turkey meat you like for this, leftover
- 1 heet puff pastry dough
- 1 cup cranberry sauce
- ¼ cup feta cheese
- thyme for garnish, fresh
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a nonstick baking mat, and set aside.
- As the oven preheats, let the puff pastry warm slightly at room temperature.
- Roll out the puff pastry, and then slice into 9 equal parts.
- Place the puff pastry onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Dollop 1-2 tablespoons of cranberry sauce onto each piece of pastry. Spread with a knife.
- Top the cranberry sauce with chopped turkey. (Eyeball it, but you don’t want it to be overflowing.)
- Sprinkle feta cheese on top of the pastries.
- Transfer to the preheated oven, and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry has puffed and browned slightly.
- Remove from the oven, and let cool slightly before sprinkling on fresh thyme leaves as the finishing touch.
- Serve warm, and enjoy!
Notes
- Leftover turkey, including seasoned types like Cajun turkey, works well to add flavor and reduce waste.
- Adjust the quantity of cranberry sauce and turkey to prevent overflowing and ensure even baking.
