Cream Cheese Dip
Description
The Cream Cheese Dip starts by crisping smoked pancetta or bacon in olive oil, then mixing softened cream cheese and sour cream with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper for seasoning. Shredded Gruyere and mozzarella cheeses, pancetta bits, and caramelised onion jam are folded in before transferring the mixture to a baking dish. Baking at 180°C for about 20 minutes results in a hot, bubbly dip with melted cheese enveloping the smoky pancetta and sweet onions.
The combination of tangy sour cream, creamy cheeses, and caramelised onions provides a rich and layered flavor profile. The dip’s hearty texture holds well when scooped with tortilla chips, crostini, or fresh vegetables, making it suitable for snacks or party appetizers.
This recipe can be customized by substituting sliced smoked bacon for pancetta, or by adding spicy accents like jalapenos for a more adult palate. Homemade caramelised onions can replace store-bought jam if desired. Serving it warm allows the cheese to stay melted and creamy.
