Cream Cheese Dip with Bacon and Cheddar

Cream Cheese Dip with Bacon and Cheddar blends softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, sharp cheddar, crisp bacon, and herbs into a rich, creamy dip. Baking it creates a warm, bubbly top layer of melted cheese that pairs well with crackers, chips, or vegetables. It’s ideal for sharing as a hearty appetizer or party snack where savory and slightly tangy flavors combine with smoky bacon bits.

Description

The Cream Cheese Dip with Bacon and Cheddar starts with a mix of softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise to create a smooth and creamy base. Freshly grated cheddar cheese and crumbled crisp bacon add sharpness and smoky depth, balanced by garlic powder, onion powder, hot sauce, green onions, and parsley for added flavor layers. Baking the dip at 375°F melts the cheddar on top, forming a bubbly golden crust. This method enhances the texture, contrasting creamy interior with a melted cheesy surface. It’s served hot, making it ideal for dipping with chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.

The dip works well as a crowd-pleasing appetizer for casual gatherings or game days, where the robust flavors and warm texture invite sharing. The versatility of toppings like extra cheese and scallions adds a fresh and cheesy finish before serving.

Using fresh grated cheddar rather than pre-shredded cheese improves flavor and melting quality. Adjust the amount of hot sauce to control heat intensity. Softened cream cheese and mixing all ingredients thoroughly ensures an even, creamy texture before baking. Serve immediately upon removal from the oven to enjoy the dip at its meltiest.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 pack cream cheese softened at room temperature, 8 oz
  • 16 oz sour cream
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese grated fresh
  • 1 ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoon hot sauce
  • 5-8 Bacon cooked crisp and crumbled, strips
  • ¼ cup green onions
  • ¼ cup parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven at 375 degree Fahrenheit.
  2. In a wide bowl, mix all ingredients – cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, hot sauce, bacon, scallions, parsley, and cheddar cheese reserving half of the cheddar for later use.
  3. Transfer the mix to a pie dish or casserole dip.
  4. Sprinkle all the leftover cheese on top (you can reserve a little more cheddar cheese to be sprinkled after it’s baked).
  5. Bake in pre-heated oven at 375 degree Fahrenheit for about 20 to 25 minutes, until cheese begins to melt and turn bubbly.
  6. Remove from oven.
  7. Garnish with little more cheddar cheese and scallions on top and server immediately with crackers or vegetables or any chips of your choice.
  8. Server hot.

Notes

  • Grate cheddar cheese fresh for better melt and flavor compared to store-bought pre-shredded cheese.
  • Onion powder and garlic powder add depth to the dip’s flavor and should not be omitted.
  • Choose your preferred hot sauce type and quantity according to taste.
  • Light sour cream or yogurt can replace sour cream for a lighter dip variation.
  • Serve the dip hot immediately after baking for optimal texture and taste.
