Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes
Description
Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes are made by peeling and chunking potatoes, then boiling them with garlic cloves until fork-tender. After draining, the potatoes and cloves return to the warm pot. Cream cheese and melted butter are added, then the potatoes are mashed to a creamy consistency. Warm milk is incorporated gradually to achieve desired smoothness. Salt and pepper finish the seasoning.
Garlic cooked within the potatoes imparts subtle aromatics without overpowering. The cream cheese adds tang and richness that enriches the traditional mashed potato flavor and texture. Using russet or Yukon gold potatoes ensures a fluffy and tender base suitable for this preparation.
This mash makes a comforting side dish that complements a variety of main courses. It holds well when kept warm and can be served simply or dressed with gravy or herbs.
